Lee added another trophy... PSG defeat Flamengo to win the Intercontinental Cup!

[Mydaily = Journalist Chan-Hyeok No] Paris Saint-Germain lifted the trophy after defeating Flamengo 2-1 on penalties in the final of the 2025 FIFA Intercontinental Cup, held at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar, on the 18th (all times Korean Standard Time). The match ended 1-1 after regular time.

In the 35th minute of the first half, PSG suffered an injury setback. Lee Kang-in collided with a Flamengo defender in the 31st minute, complained of pain, and was eventually substituted off. PSG brought on Senny Mayulu to replace Lee Kang-in.

PSG took the lead in the 38th minute. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia finished off a low cross from the right flank by Désiré Doué with a left-footed shot, finding the back of the net.

Trailing at half-time, Flamengo levelled the match in the 17th minute of the second half. Giorgian de Arrascaeta drew a foul from Marquinhos inside the penalty area, and Jorginho calmly converted the resulting penalty.

Both sides finished regulation time without further goals. They also failed to score in extra time, leading to a penalty shootout. In the shootout, PSG and Flamengo both saw their first kickers, Vitinha and De La Cruz, score.

A series of misses followed. PSG's third kicker, Nuno Mendes, scored, but Flamengo missed every attempt after their first kicker, bowing their heads. The match concluded with PSG winning the penalty shootout.

This victory marked PSG's sixth trophy of the calendar year. Achieving six titles in one season is only the third time in history, following Barcelona in 2009 and Bayern Munich in 2020.

Having already won Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, and the Trophée des Champions last season, PSG achieved the historic feat of winning their first UEFA Champions League (UCL) title in June. Securing the UEFA Super Cup early in the season cemented their status as Europe's strongest club.

After the match, Lee Kang-in posted a photo on social media holding the trophy, sharing his thoughts: ‘I've won another title with my teammates. I'm so proud to be world champions. Allez Paris!’
