[마이데일리 = 김희수 기자] Is the bold move a boost in the middle of the season.
OK Savings Bank jumped to third place by beating Woori Card 3-2 (23-25, 25-21, 25-21, 21-25, 15-13) in the third round of the men's team of Jin Air 2025-2026 V-League at Gangseo Gymnasium in Busan on the 17th. Song Hee-chae and Jeon Kwang-in performed well on the left side, while Park Chang-sung and Trent O'Dea MB duo also performed well.
OK Savings Bank's victory on the day represents the jinx that OK Savings Bank has continued. It is its home winning streak. Starting with the victory against Samsung Fire on Nov. 27, OK Savings Bank swept five consecutive wins at home alone from the match against Woori Card on Nov. 30, the match against KB Insurance on Dec. 9, the match against Korean Air on Dec. 12, and the match against Woori Card on Dec. 17. It has acquired 12 points.
Throughout the season, OK Savings Bank has a high winning rate with 6 wins and 2 losses (75% winning rate) at home. As only one home game was played in the aftermath of the National Sports Festival held in Busan in the first round, OK Savings Bank, which has four home games in each of the 2-3 rounds, is gaining momentum to compete in the mid-season rankings based on its high winning rate at home.
There are various factors for OK Savings Bank to maintain good performance at home, but it is clear that the travel distance burden of the away team is one of them. As most teams have training grounds and club houses in the Gyeongin area, the travel distance to Busan is well over 300 km. Considerable fatigue is bound to accumulate on the bus.
Some teams are attempting to move by plane rather than bus to overcome this difficult situation. Gimhae International Airport is not far from Gangseo Gymnasium. However, this is also not the correct answer. There are some inconveniences when considering the way to move luggage, the route to move to the stadium after arriving at the airport, and the route to stay. In fact, some teams that sacrificed OK Savings Bank's five consecutive home wins include those that moved by plane.
Of course, the relocation of OK Savings Bank to Busan has not been fully carried out yet, so OK Savings Bank also has a considerable distance to travel to Busan. However, the stability of the home is clearly different. Home fans' enthusiastic support is definitely at the center of it. At the end of the second set, Busan fans who sing "Busan Seagull" together and shout "Serira" whenever they serve are giving OK Savings Bank players a strong home advantage.
OK Savings Bank's next home game is the match against KEPCO, which will take place on March 30. It will have two away matches against Hyundai Capital and Samsung Fire and Marine Insurance before that match. If OK Savings Bank, which is properly buffed by Busan, can play on Monday with its away performance elevated, it is not a dream to join the race for the top spot.
