태용, 본능 깨우고 틀 깼다…거칠게 질주한 '와일드' [MD신곡]

[마이데일리 = 강다윤 기자] 그룹 NCT 태용이 2년여간 쌓여 있던 본능과 에너지를 솔직하게 쏟아냈다.

태용은 18일 오후 6시 각종 온라인 음원사이트를 통해 첫 솔로 정규앨범 '와일드'(WYLD)를 발매했다. 군 복무 이후 처음 선보이는 신보로, 한층 단단해진 내면과 깊어진 감성을 통해 새롭게 확장된 음악 세계를 담아냈다.

동명의 타이틀곡 '와일드'는 야생 동물의 본능적인 움직임에서 영감을 받은 힙합 곡이다. 강렬한 베이스와 묵직한 리듬 악기, 실험적인 소스를 정교하게 쌓아 올려 마치 야생과 같은 입체적인 몰입감을 자아낸다.

태용은 '와일드'를 통해 오랜 시간 응축해 온 아티스트로서의 자아를 야성미 있게 녹여냈다. 시작부터 'Now watch me move baby / 다시 한번 더 Break the frame'이라며 스스로의 틀을 깨겠다고 선언하고, 'From the jungle to the throne'으로 목표를 향해 멈추지 않고 나아가겠다는 자신감과 포부를 드러낸다.

거칠어진 에너지는 'Like animal', 'Wild Yelling Loud just'라는 반복적인 외침과 'Dancing in the wild' 후렴으로 이어지며 폭발한다. 이 가운데 태용은 '멈추지 않아 갈 때까지 난 Runnin''이라며 더 자유롭게, 더 거칠게 자신을 드러내겠다는 의지를 노래한다.

이와 함께 공개된 뮤직비디오는 인간 내면에 잠재된 본능을 태용의 에너지와 퍼포먼스, 비주얼로 감각적으로 풀어냈다. 본능과 통제의 상반된 요소들이 충돌하고 교차하는 순간을 담아내며, 패션 필름을 연상케 하는 강렬하고 세련된 영상미를 완성했다.

한편 태용이 전곡 프로듀싱에 참여한 '와일드'에는 타이틀곡 외에도 '스톰'(Storm), '힙노틱'(Hypnotic), '아임 어 댄싱 캑터스'(I'm a Dancing Cactus), '머메이드'(Mermaid), '404 유포리아'(404 Euphoria), '스키'(Skiii), '핫'(Hot), '필링 마이셀프'(Feeling Myself), '런'(Run) 등 총 10곡이 수록됐다.
